Debrief is built to be private by design. It has no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no ads. Your meetings stay on your device, and the developer does not collect, receive, or store any of your personal information.
Information we collect
None. Debrief does not collect personal information. There are no user accounts, no sign-in, and no analytics or advertising SDKs. We have no servers that receive your data.
How your data is handled
On-device storage. Your meetings, transcripts, notes, action items, people, and projects are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to us.
Microphone. When you choose to record a meeting, the microphone is used to capture audio for transcription. Audio is optionally saved on your device only if you enable “Keep the audio recording” in Settings.
Speech recognition (transcription). Recordings are transcribed using Apple’s Speech framework. With “On-device only” enabled (the default), transcription happens entirely on your device. For some languages that lack an on-device model, Apple may process audio on Apple’s servers to transcribe it; this is handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. You can keep transcription on-device by leaving “On-device only” on.
Notes & tasks. Summaries, decisions, action items, and follow-up drafts are generated entirely on your device from your transcript. This content is never uploaded and is not shared with any third party or AI service.
Reminders & Calendar (optional). If you grant access, Debrief can create reminders from your action items and import upcoming calendar events. This data stays on your device and in your own Apple accounts; it is not sent to us.
Notifications (optional). If you enable meeting reminders, Debrief schedules local notifications on your device. No push server is involved.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data, and Debrief does not send your content to any third-party or AI service. The only time your content leaves your device is when you initiate it — for example, exporting your data or sharing a follow-up message or reminder through the system share sheet.
Your controls
Export all your data to a JSON file (Settings ▸ Data).
Delete all your data at any time (Settings ▸ Data), or delete the app to remove everything.
Keep transcription and AI on-device, and mark sensitive meetings Confidential.
Children’s privacy
Debrief is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above.
